Privacy policy
The short version: Seaglass doesn’t collect anything. There’s no account, no Seaglass server, and nothing you track is sent to us.
Last updated
- No sign-up, no email, no account.
- What you track is stored on your phone. We never receive it.
- No ads, no trackers and no analytics in the app.
- Backups go where you choose: a file you keep, or your own iCloud or Google Drive.
- Purchases go through Apple or Google. We never see who you are.
What the app keeps, and where
Seaglass stores what you enter in a database on your phone: your trackers (what you’re counting, when you started, what it used to cost, your reason), past runs, journal entries (notes, cravings, slips and milestones) and your settings.
It stays there. Seaglass has no server to send it to and no account to tie it to, so we can’t see it, and we couldn’t hand it to anyone if asked. Deleting the app deletes this data from the phone.
What leaves your phone, and only when you choose
Backup files you export
In Settings, “Export or import” saves everything into one file and hands it to your phone’s share sheet. You pick where it goes: Files, AirDrop, email, a cloud drive or anywhere else. The file goes there, not to us, and that place’s own privacy terms apply.
Without a passcode, anyone who has the file can read it. With “Protect with a passcode” on, the file is encrypted (AES-256) and can’t be opened without the passcode. We don’t have it and can’t recover it.
iCloud and Google Drive backup (coming soon)
We’re adding an optional backup to your own cloud: your iCloud Drive on iPhone, or a private app folder in your Google Drive on Android that only Seaglass can read. It will be off until you turn it on in Settings, under “Backup and sync”. When it’s on, the backup goes from your phone to your own Apple or Google account. It doesn’t pass through us, and we can’t read it. Apple’s or Google’s privacy terms apply to what’s stored there.
Your phone’s own backup
Seaglass’s data is part of your phone’s regular device backup: iCloud Backup on iPhone, or Google’s backup on Android, if you have it turned on. That’s what lets a new phone restored from a backup keep your history. It’s separate from Seaglass’s own backup switch: turning Seaglass’s backup off doesn’t take its data out of your phone’s device backup. To keep it out, change your phone’s backup settings.
Sharing
When you share a card (your days, money kept or a piece of sea glass), the image and caption go straight from your phone to the app you pick: Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, Messages, or anything else in the share sheet. Only what you choose to share is sent, and nothing passes through us. Captions and Reddit posts include a link to this website, tagged with where it was shared from (for example utm_source=share), which says nothing about you.
Saving a card to Photos only adds that image. Seaglass never looks through your photos.
Links
Links in the app, such as the sources on the health timeline, open in your browser, and those sites’ own privacy terms apply.
Purchases and free codes
The one-time unlock is bought through the App Store or Google Play, and free codes are redeemed there too. Apple or Google handle the payment and your account. We don’t receive your name, email or payment details. To know whether you’ve unlocked, the app asks the store what your account owns, and remembers the answer on the phone.
Reminders
Reminders are local notifications, scheduled on your phone. There’s no push server and no push token. Unless you turn on “Say what I’m quitting”, notifications don’t say what you’re tracking, so nothing private shows on your lock screen.
App lock
If you turn on app lock, your phone checks your Face ID, fingerprint or passcode. Seaglass only learns whether it matched; your face, fingerprint and passcode never reach the app.
Permissions
Seaglass asks only for what a feature needs, when you use it: notifications for reminders, Photos to save a share card (add only), and Face ID for app lock. It doesn’t use your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
Analytics, ads and crash reports
The app has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it doesn’t send crash reports to us. Nothing leaves your phone except what you choose to send, as described above.
If you’ve allowed your phone to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may show us anonymous crash reports and usage totals. That’s a setting on your phone, between you and them.
This website
seaglassdays.app is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles each request (including your IP address) to deliver the pages and protect the site. Fonts are served from this site, not a font service.Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie if traffic looks automated; we don’t use cookies ourselves. If you switch the site between light and dark, your browser remembers that choice on your device; it isn’t sent to us.
The site has no analytics.
Invite links (/gift?code=…) read the code in your browser and send you to the App Store or Google Play with it. We don’t keep a list of who uses which code.
Your data, your choices
Because we don’t hold any of your data, there’s nothing for us to look up, correct, export or delete. You can do all of it in the app: edit or delete trackers and entries, export a file, or delete the app. Backups you’ve made live in your files or your own cloud account, and you can delete them there.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. If Seaglass ever starts sending anything off your phone, this page will say so first.
